Lee Dorsey

Lee Dorsey: Feds say state’s in for a soggy three months     There is a 75 percent probability of average or above-average precipitation between January and the end of March for California, according to a new report by federal scientists — the first time in five years such a wet outlook has been predicted in the state during the first three months of a year.
“This is good news,” said Steve Baxter, a seasonal forecaster with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which issued the report on Thursday predicting that the harsh reality of California’s historic drought may finally be giving way to wetter days ahead.

Mother Nature's Army-MNA

Mother Nature's Army-MNA: Donate Now | Oil Change International     Dear Richard ,

For years, Exxon spent millions of dollars denying the science of climate change. Today, they still deny the reality that most existing fossil fuels must stay in the ground, and they still spend millions buying politicians who block climate action.

And last week, for pointing out these truths, they called us “odious”.[1] We think that creating and profiting from climate chaos is in fact much more objectionable than any words, but it is good to know we’ve gotten their attention.

We are standing up to Big Oil – and with your support, we’ll continue to challenge them, pressure them and ultimately beat them.

Every year Exxon publishes an energy “forecast”, which is frankly based on poor analysis and absurd oil-soaked assumptions. Last week we published a rsponse to that forecast, which then got picked up by the Financial Times, among others.

Unsurprisingly, Exxon didn’t agree with our analysis. But what was at least a little surprising was that rather than address our substantive critique, they just ignored our points and called us names.

Big Oil will do whatever they can to protect their profits, regardless of what the facts say. And, as we’ve learned time and time again, they’re not afraid to play dirty.

At Oil Change, we believe in the power of information and the power of people. In the next year, we will be confronting the oil industry head on with factual analysis, bold campaigning, and determined organizing. But we really need your help – can you chip in a few dollars today to help us keep the pressure on?

Thanks, as ever, for your support.
