A pastor of a certain Christian denomination addressing his flock in a packed carrier -stand at the Suva bus stand on Sunday, did not spare them with an earful about demons and unchristian ways of life.
This is a popular sight on a Sunday afternoon and I was on my way to a 5pm Church service.
I certainly would have to congratulate the pastor for having much desire to convert his people to be great Christians.
However, in the midst of his well-strung verbosity, the honorable man took a swipe at the “I-taukei traditions and values and criticised them as demonic- In particular he made mention that even the tabua- which is held in high esteem amongst the I-taukei is demonic. The Fijian traditions and values of putting them in high esteem is demonic”. I stood in amazement.
Looking at him from a distance and muttered to myself. What hypocrisy! What a misleading, haughty and a totally uncalled for comment? What a let down to us the I-taukei who have high regard for our culture, traditions and values in life! This man of God needs to stop misleading his flock; this is doing more harm than actually hoping for greater salvation in the church.

Japan will defend its whaling program in the Antarctic Ocean at the upcoming international court hearings on Australia's case against Japan's so-called research whaling, and will insist at the International Court of Justice in The Hague that its whaling program is legitimate. They claim it is aimed at scientific research purposes and therefore does not violate an international moratorium against commercial whaling as Australia claims. The oral hearings, which will be held between June 26 and July 16, are the last phase in legal proceedings before the court makes its decision on the legality of Japan's whaling -- possibly by the end of this year.
Japan will not be able to hunt whales in Antarctic waters should the court decide against the country's whaling. Australia brought the case against Japan in 2010, and the ICJ has since received written submissions from both parties. New Zealand will also participate in the proceedings to state its opinion on the matter.

Until he wore his NRA T-shirt to his middle school. When he refused to take it off, the school had him arrested for disturbing the education process. Which wasn’t true, because he got quite an education in how liberal school officials think. He was even threatened with charges of making terroristic threats. In the end, he was officially charged with obstructing an officer, who claimed Jared wouldn’t stop talking, which hindered the cop’s ability to arrest him. So apparently, neither the First NOR Second Amendment apply in Logan. Jared could face a $500 fine and a year in jail. All because he wore a T-shirt that promotes safe and responsible gun ownership. You know, I bet if he’d worn a T-shirt promoting a rapper who records songs about shooting police officers, he’d still be in study hall.

Everyone should read "Legend" by Marie Lu. It's one of my favorite books now, but I haven't read the second one yet. It's the first book in a series. It's in the future, and the US is split up into the Republic and the Colonies, and they are at war. There's a fifteen-year-old boy (Day) who is the country's most wanted criminal, and there is a fifteen-year-old girl (June) who is super smart and at the highest military academy, and it's her job to find Day and capture him for the government. It's such a good book!
